Is He Worth a Second Date?

Is He Worth a Second Date?

Dating is supposed to be fun, but more often than not we leave not really sure if he’s worth it or not. I’ve always said if you have to question it, it’s probably a no. There’s no use in trying to convince yourself of something, or force yourself to feel something that isn’t there.

But it’s hard as hell sometimes, right? After all, many of us don’t experience love at first sight so we try and intellectualize it: “Is it bad that he did this…” “What does this/that mean…?” Trust me, there’s nothing wrong with thinking too hard, but if you ask me a man is only worth a second date when he proves himself through actions:

#1) Both of you ignore your phones unconsciously because you’re actually into each other. No Facebook, Instagram, emails, and God-forbid, Grindr. Somehow a magical feeling overcame you both and you’re gravitated up and outward towards one another. That’s an energy you can’t ignore.

#2) Neither of you are looking at hot guys around you. Nothing sucks more than knowing your date is checking out other guys in front of you. Clearly he’s not into you, and having a floating eye is the biggest sign that he’s a cheater. But when both of you are so glued in, not out of pretending to be polite, but because both of you actually think you’re the hottest in the room, it’s incredible.

#3) You’re laughing authentically rather than pretending to. He’s funny and he gets your sense of humour. Even if it’s about something neutral or about a particular circumstance that happened on the date, the laugh is real and it opened up a piece of your heart. You were comfortable enough to show it—that says something interesting.

#4) He’s passionate about at least one topic. If he’s not at all passionate about anything whatsoever, you have more reason to doubt him. It tends to show how much he’d be passionate for you, which would likely be minimal.

#5) There’s something about him you want to see again. You can’t explain it, but there’s something mysterious. Both of you were putting up appearances of course; there was a spark you might have caught a glimpse of, but not enough. You need to try and spot it again.

#6) He cares about what’s going on in the world. A man who cares about the news and knows about what’s happening is a person that pays attention. He cares for human kind and more than likely knows the power of knowledge, which means he’ll also put his best foot forward when maintaining a relationship.

#7) Conversation is flowing seamlessly. There are no awkward pauses because you’re unconsciously tuned into each other’s energy. Most of the time it happens when you least expect it, which can be pretty epic.

#8) You don’t want to leave because you’re having a good time in spite yourself. You thought he could be fun, which is why you went, but you didn’t expect to have this good of a time. If you had this much fun, you’re probably going to have even more fun the next go around.

#9) He treats people well and with respect and consideration. You can always tell a person’s character by the way he treats those serving him in shop, restaurant, hotel… When he talks to them with compassion and consideration, chances are he’s going to have the same level-headedness with the rest of the world.

#10) You’re able to find something you both either hate or love, and have a genuine exchange about it. Let’s face it, conversation is sexy when it’s done lovingly and passionately. It’s sexy as hell if we’re going to be honest. Finally, you’re on a date with a man who has a brain!
