Cole Powell is an American actor and singer. He played the role of Daniel in the Broadway revival of the musical Once on This Island. And he was cast as Tony in the 2020 Broadway revival of West Side Story.

Powell is openly gay and came out at the age of sixteen. In 2016, Powell met Broadway actor, Wesley Taylor, when Taylor was visiting North Carolina School of the Arts where Powell was a junior in the school’s theatre program. The two then began a relationship in 2017 and were engaged in May 2019.

Calvin Klein is continuing their #proudinmycalvins campaign, this year spotlighting the LGBTQIA+ community through potent storytelling and a Pride 2021 collection.

Enveloped in a series of short films and photos, the campaign is “a celebration of defining moments in the queer and trans journey” and “revisits the transformative events that shaped the lives of talent from different parts of the world at different moments in time” the brand noted in a press release.

Diversity is apparent in its eight member cast – Isaac Cole, Kai Isaiah Jamal, King Princess, Omar Ayuso, Raisa Flowers, Samuel de Saboia, Arca, and CR’s Issue 18 cover star and guest editor, Honey Dijon – that reflects on their individual experiences, from feelings of liberation and romance to self-expression, within the LGBTQIA+ community.
